Every year, thousands of medical school graduates utter these four simple words. But as you will see in Playing God, earning an M.D. is just the first step to becoming a real physician.
In this page-turning, thrilling, and moving memoir, Dr. Anthony Youn reveals that the true metamorphosis from student to doctor occurs not in medical school but in the formative years of residency training and early practice. It is only through actually saving and losing patients, taking on the medical establishment, wrestling with financial and emotional survival, and fighting for patients’ lives that a young doctor becomes a mature and competent physician.
Dr. Youn takes you from the operating rooms of a university surgery residency program to the gleaming offices of top Beverly Hills plastic surgeons to opening the doors of his empty clinic as a new doctor with no money, no patients, and mountains of debt. Playing God leaves you with an unexpected answer to that profound question: “What does it mean to be a doctor?”
In Playing God, you will take a journey through the world of surgery, hospitals, and the practice of medicine unlike any that you have traveled before.

Playing God
I purchased this book through Audible.com. I listened to it within five days, it was so inspiring, I was hooked on it. Dr.Youn's openness about some of his experiences with patients gave me back my trust in doctors like. I am retired now, I used to work in the medical field for doctors. Both Doctors that I worked for in those years were great to work for. However, ninety-nine percent of the physicians that would call the office to speak to the Dr. were far from pleasant. Every physician that called the office to speak to my "boss" had to go through me. There was one Doctor who when she would call the office she started her call asking me how I was doing and thank me sweetly for connecting her with the Dr. A few years later when I went back to college, one of my favorite professors just happened to be the daughter of that sweet 1 percent physician that would call the office. I suspect that Dr. Youn would be just like that 1 percent. Thank you for sharing your stories of patients. I recommend this book to anyone who uses ( currently I am in no position to afford the products.) his products, watches his youtube videos to purchase the book, you will not regret it.
